Rugby League was introduced in Serbia 1953 year. This year Dragan Marsicevic, the secretary of the Yugoslavian Sport Association, introduced Rugby League. He was response to an offer, made by the French Rugby XIII Federation, to send two teams to play a series of four games to stimulate interest. First match played in Belgrade on 26. November 1953 between France students and Selection Province.
Partizan was the first rugby club in Yugoslavia, founded on November 1 1953. A few months later rugby club Radnicki was founded too. The first match between Partizan and Radnicki played in Paracin on 26. April 1954. In this match Partizan win 21:11. Next match played in Belgrade on 1. May 1954 also win Partizan this time 16:14. The first and only Yugoslav international National Team of rugby league was played 1961 in Banja Luka against French amateur XIII . The Yugoslavs lost 13-0 but this was to be the high point in Yugoslav rugby league. In his history Partizan won 17 national Championships and 13 national Cups
